On crystallographic aspects of heterogeneous plastic flow during ductile tearing: 3D measurements and crystal plasticity simulations for AA7075-T651

چکیده

Crystallographic aspects of heterogeneous plastic flow during ductile tearing are assessed experimentally by combining in situ synchrotron laminography imaging notched flat samples with a full-field measurement technique and numerical simulations the crystal plasticity finite element method (CP-FEM). Advantage is taken plane strain condition region ahead notch root (i.e., normal to crack propagation direction) perform two-dimensional image correlation material bulk. Intermetallic particles provide contrast that registered analyses. They reveal early onset slant strained bands along which final propagated. Two-dimensional CP-FEM using grain shape crystallographic orientations studied show same trends as those observed experimentally, namely, appearance cross tens grains remain stable over loading history. The ratio strains within outside also similar experimentally.

A 3D elasto-plastic FEM program developed for reservoir Geomechanics simulations: Introduction and case studies

The development of yielded or failure zone due to an engineering construction is a subject of study in different disciplines. In Petroleum engineering, depletion from and injection of gas into a porous rock can cause development of a yield zone around the reservoir. Studying this phenomenon requires elasto-plastic analysis of geomaterial, in this case the porous rocks. In this study, which is a...

3 Tearing transition and plastic flow in superconducting thin films

A new class of artificial atoms, such as synthetic nanocrystals or vortices in superconductors, naturally self-assemble into ordered arrays. This property makes them applicable to the design of novel solids, and devices whose properties often depend on the response of such assemblies to the action of external forces. Here we study the transport properties of a vortex array in the Corbino disk g...

Surface Finish and Residual Stresses Induced by Orthogonal Dry Machining of AA7075-T651

The surface finish was extensively studied in usual machining processes (turning, milling, and drilling). For these processes, the surface finish is strongly influenced by the cutting feed and the tool nose radius. However, a basic understanding of tool/surface finish interaction and residual stress generation has been lacking. This paper aims to investigate the surface finish and residual stre...
